DAY 2

Sunday December 26, 1999

Got up early, walked to Road Town.  Not too many shops open because it was Boxing Day  holiday.  There was a cruise ship in port so some shops were opened up in the afternoon.

We took a $10 cab ride to Maya Cove/Hodges Creek Marina to see the Sun Yachts sail boat the Bloody Mary that we were due to take out on Tuesday morning.  We talked with Keith at Blue Water Diver whom we were renting tanks, weights and tank rack from to take with us on Tuesday.  Joslyn and Cathy at Sun Yachts were very nice and we got to walk around and check out the Bloody Mary a 43 foot 4 cabin Jeanneau that was ours starting Tuesday.  This is a very nice new modern marina with restaurant, bar, hotel, dive shop, pool, showers, and Ample Hamper provisioning shop.  The marina was full of boats today; I guess everyone will be leaving during the week, like we are.  We weren’t able to convince Sun Yachts to let us stay the night on Bloody Mary because, they said, there had a schedule of getting the boats ready and didn’t want to mess it up.  We had a nice lunch at the CalaMaya Restaurant at the marina.  Small Cubana Pizza $13 and Cubana sandwich $12.

Took a cab back to Road Town to Pusser's for Painkillers $4.50 for 2 shot, $5.50 for triples and $6.50 for 4 shots.  The 2 shots ones are plenty!  Fish and Chips were good quality and quantity at  $12.50 and small meat pizza was $8.95.  Walked back to the Fort Burt Hotel and went to bed.

Glen & Sharon left Sacramento at 6:30 am for Dallas/Ft. Worth, met up with Tony & Charlotte for the flight to San Juan.  We overnighted in San Juan at a very rickety hotel…the Best Western Condado…the elevator wouldn't end up flush with the floor and everyone was constantly tripping!  We walked around the area, ended up shopping in Walgreen's and then having dinner at a nice restaurant down the street.  I can't believe we didn't get lost, as San Juan is full of narrow, one-way streets and few street signs.  Early to bed for us…travel day was full.  Poor Glen had to work all night, too.
