Trip Report 12/25/99 through 1/7/00DAY 1Saturday December 25, 1999 Left from Hartford non-stop to San Juan on American
Airlines, everything was fine and on time.
The San Juan Airport is a big place but nicely laid out and clean.
We were glad to find our bags and hauled them over to LIAT Air where we
were able to get an earlier flight to Beef Island, Tortola.
LIAT is a decent but typically small Caribbean carrier.
Soon come mon, no rush. The
airport at Beef Island is very small but busy with only 1 or 2 people from
customs meeting each small commuter size plane.
We took a taxi from Beef Island to The Fort Burt Hotel in Road Town.
It was raining pretty steadily. The
taxi cost $15 for 2 people one way, but the taxi/van driver made sure we were
out of the rain before he stopped the taxi and even backed the taxi up next to
our room so our luggage didnt get too wet.
We had a small bottle of rum with us so we got diet cokes from the bar
and sat and enjoyed the view from our room #203s balcony.
Our room had king bed, ceiling fan, remote TV with HBO, fridge and remote
control air conditioning.
